SOS Student Experience

Completing Student Opinion Surveys is a very important and necessary process. This is one of the main reasons why UW Oshkosh gives all students the opportunity to provide feedback and suggestions to their instructors through a Student Opinion Survey (SOS) in each of their courses. In fact, every semester instructors across our campuses change and improve their courses thanks to student input. Furthermore, the information shared is used in combination with other measures of performance to evaluate instructors for promotion, tenure, and advancement. In short, student feedback is vital to UWO faculty, instructional staff, and administration.

Students who submit an SOS will remain anonymous, so your instructor will not know who provided what specific feedback.  Furthermore, your instructor will not have access to their SOS results until after all course grades are submitted to the Registrar.

Please note that your portal remains the same the entire time you are a student at UW Oshkosh.  Therefore, you do not need an email to access the SOS.  We strongly recommend book marking your portal your first year as a student so you can easily find your SOS every term. 

Course Evaluations Available

Student Opinion Surveys are available two weeks before a 14-week term ends and one week before a 7-week term or shorter term ends based on the last day of class as listed in Titan Web (PeopleSoft.) When the survey period begins, students receive an email from sos@uwosh.edu containing instructions on how to access their individualized portal and complete the Student Opinion Survey. The portal will contain a list of their courses and available surveys. Students will receive two reminder emails before survey expiration. All surveys expire at 11:59 p.m. on the last day of the class as listed in Titan Web (PeopleSoft.)

Student Opinion Survey Portal

The following are included in the survey portal:

• Student Opinion Survey List – Courses available for evaluation. This includes the name of the course and Instructor of record.
• Submitted Evaluations Student Opinion Surveys – Courses that students have completed.

Surveys are closed at 11:59 p.m. on the last day of the class. After the term ends, students will no longer have access to their surveys.

Taking the Evaluation

The student will begin by clicking on the desired course. The link will direct them to begin the evaluation. There will be a number of questions listed on each page. The student has the ability to change answers by choosing the back arrow until final submission.

When all questions are completed, the system redirects the student back to their portal. They may take the next survey or leave the portal area.

Course evaluation ALWAYS ends at 11:59pm on the last day of class AS LISTED IN TITAN WEB (PEOPLESOFT.)

Notes:

• If you have difficulty filling out the SOS due to ADA compliance issues with the software, please email sos@uwosh.edu and arrangements will be made to fill out a paper SOS.
• Instructors are notified up to 72 hours before students receive the SOS invitation.
• Faculty & Instructors will be able to check the return rate in their classes & create/adapt their own messaging to their students as needed.
