Merlaine Angwall teaches acting, directing and stage combat. She is a professional director and has worked for such theatre companies as: New American Theatre, First Stage Milwaukee, the Toledo Repertory Theatre, and the Dallas Theatre Center, where she was the recipient of the Johnny George award for directing. She was Artistic Director for Theatre Tulsa, and was an Artist in Residence for the state of Oklahoma. In addition, she has directed for Annapolis Naval Academy, the Tulsa Opera, and directed The MGM Story with Donald O’Connor and the Tulsa Symphony. Merlaine is a professional actor and has acted with several theatre companies and has appeared in commercials and film. She performed in the Broadway production of Lombardi at the Fox Cities PAC and at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. She has written three musical scores, including Alice in Wonderland, or Not! which premiered at the University of Colorado in 2004. Recently, Merlaine won the Gloria Peter Barnell International playwriting contest for her play, Blackbird’s Garden. Merlaine is currently Professor of Theatre and Chair of the theatre department at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, and holds an M.F.A. from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
