Mick Alderson is Technical Director/Lighting Designer for the Theatre Department at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh since 1997. Mick received a B.A. in Speech/Theatre from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1975 and an M.F.A. in Stage Lighting from Indiana University in 1980. Prior to returning to UWO he served as Technical Director at UW-Fox Valley for nine years, and before that as Props Master for the Opera Department at University of Iowa for six years.
Mick has been Vice-Chair for Membership of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology- Midwest Regional Section since 2002. He received the USITT Midwest Section Founders Award in 2007. He is a charter member of IATSE Local 470, founded in 1973, which provides Northeastern Wisconsin’s theatres and performance venues with professional stagehands. Mick is a past President and past Vice-president of the Local. He is Webmaster of the Local’s website, at www.ia470.com, and authored The Stagehand’s Primer, an on-line text used by numerous Locals, colleges, and schools for training purposes.
