Time to Celebrate!

UW Oshkosh Chancellor Andy Leavitt | Sept. 24, 2021

Dear University community,

UWO has rung the bell on COVID-19! Today I am thrilled to announce UWO students have reached a 70% COVID-19 vaccination rate.

THANK YOU!

Thank you for taking care of your health. Thank you for helping us create a safer environment on our campuses.

And thank you to our faculty and staff: 77% of you have told us you are vaccinated.

To mark this moment we would like to celebrate with a free ice cream social for all students, staff and faculty on our three campuses on Wednesday, Oct. 6. Watch your email for details on times and locations.

In addition to the health and safety benefits of reaching this vaccination milestone, qualifying UWO students are now eligible for several $7,000 scholarships awarded by UW System through its 70 for 70 campaign. That campaign has been extended by two weeks to Oct. 31, so students still have time to get the vaccine and qualify for the scholarships. Don’t miss this opportunity. You will need to receive both shots by Oct. 31 and fill out the vaccine report form

UWO also will award 10 $1,000 scholarships this fall to qualifying vaccinated students. Winners’ vaccination status will be verified, so please make sure your vaccination information is accurate and up-to-date.

If you haven’t been vaccinated, do so today. Seventy percent is great, but we’d like that number to continue to climb. Albee Hall is offering free COVID-19 vaccinations 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Vaccination opportunities for Fond du Lac and Fox Cities students, faculty and staff have been shared in emails from campus leadership on each campus. Testing remains mandatory for unvaccinated students, faculty and staff.

We have come a long way in a few short weeks. I am not surprised. This is just one more example of the caring, compassionate community that is UWO.

Again, thank you.
