The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s upcoming winter alumni events are sure to help those looking to leave the Wisconsin cold behind and celebrate their Titan pride.
“Our regional alumni events provide an ideal opportunity for UWO alumni and friends to connect, celebrate their Titan Pride, and learn what’s new on campus right where they are,” Alumni Director Christine Gantner said.
The UWO winter alumni gatherings will begin in Florida with two events in The Villages.
The Alumni Reception in The Villages kicks off the winter events and is set for Jan. 19 at Sonny’s BBQ. It will be hosted by Titan alumna Marlene (Schick) Ackerman ’69, and the Central Florida Alumni Chapter.
The second event in The Villages will take place nearly a month later on Feb. 21. The Chancellor’s Reception in The Villages will be an opportunity for alumni to meet Chancellor Andrew Leavitt, Gantner and UWO Foundation Executive Director Greg Giles ‘91.
The Titan alumni events continue in Florida before moving on to Arizona.
The other Florida events include Wisconsin Day in Fort Myers Feb. 23 and an Alumni Reception in Naples on Feb. 25, hosted by Sharon and Jim Rath ’76, at Quail Run Golf Course.
“I’d like to encourage fellow Titans to attend this year’s alumni gatherings,” Rath said. “Looking back, it is amazing to recognize the impact attending UWO has had on our lives. Certainly, a life changer for each of us. It’s been more than a half century since I first stepped foot on the campus of UW Oshkosh. Each year that we have attended these alumni gatherings we continue to meet others who share our UW Oshkosh experience, and we enjoy hearing updates about our University.”
The final event of the season is a Brewers game against the Chicago Cubs during its spring training trip in Phoenix, Arizona, on March 12.
“We are grateful for the alumni volunteers in these areas who help make these gatherings possible. All alumni and friends are welcome,” Gantner said.
