The Fox Valley Concert Band, under the direction of Marc Sackman, will present its Winter Concert March 18 in Perry Hall on the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Fox Cities campus. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

The concert program will feature the music of Appleton native Theresa Martin and a number of works from the classical repertoire. Martin will be joined by Laura McLaughlin in a performance of Martin’s concerto for two clarinets, Double Take, which was written for the band in 2014.

The concert will open with a transcription of Poet and Peasant Overture by Franz von Suppé. The flute section will be featured in Jules Massenet’s Meditation from Thaïs. Music from the baroque by Johann Sebastian Bach, Fantasia and Fugue in C Minor, BWV 537, and the 20th century, Berceuse and Finale fromFirebird” by Igor Stravinsky are also on the program.

The band’s march for the evening will by Kenneth Alford’s The Army of the Nile, composed during World War II to celebrate the victory of the British Eight Army in Africa.
