College is futuristic. Sure, university life is steeped in tradition. However, the learning, the teaching and research, and the student journeys and experiences are always future-focused. College is about personal transformation, building something even better and reaching life-changing goals.

UWO has a LOT to look forward to.

UWO graduated a record 58 doctor of nursing practice students in May. That represents the largest class since the program began in 2010.

It’s another example of UWO’s efforts to infuse our region and state with advanced practice registered nurses and give more health systems and their patients access to high-quality healthcare. And it represents just one of many proud headlines following another stellar year of academic achievements throughout UW Oshkosh.

As our cover story makes abundantly clear, UWO gymnastics is a champion. Congratulations to the incredible Titan student-athletes who vaulted the team to the top of NCAA Division III this spring, earning UWO its 48th national championship. We know there is more success to come!

This fall, the Titan Thunder Marching Band steps off. And, oh, what sweet music it will make. It will take time for this, the institution’s first marching band in about 42 years, to really knit itself into the fabric of UWO and regional communities’ culture. But we have been aggressive in our support for this program and for good reason. Marching band has long been one of the most sought-after extracurricular experiences prospective Titans inquire about. So, it’s not just about playing music, it’s about growing enrollment, building community and strengthening University identity and pride for years to come.

And, as you read this, UWO faculty, staff, students and community stakeholders continue to develop the institution’s next strategic plan. Nothing could be more futuristic.

We are in our final round of outreach, analyzing a wealth of input, formulating priorities and goals, and shaping it into a plan due this fall.

Expect to see a roadmap that offers bold new targets built on the bedrock of UWO’s long-standing values.

There’s a lot to look forward to. Please enjoy this edition of Titan: your latest view of UWO’s bright future.
