The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh hosts Homecoming Oct. 21-22, with events for Titan students beginning Oct. 16. The always special weekend for alumni, faculty, staff and students has added excitement this year as the new Titan Thunder Marching Band will perform and celebrate 100 years of bands at UW Oshkosh.

“Excitement is building as we prepare to celebrate Titan pride during Homecoming Weekend,” said Chris Gantner, alumni relations director. “UWO alumni and friends from near and far are invited to return to campus to experience old and new traditions, renew friendships and walk down memory lane. Our celebration includes something for everyone so bring your family and friends and join us for an unforgettable weekend on the Oshkosh campus.”

The weekend also includes the fourth annual Family Day. The very popular Family Day is held in conjunction with Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 22.

“Family Day plays an important role in student support, and the celebration of being a Titan,” said Alicia Stuedemann, associate director of new student and family programs. “Families can get a look inside students’ lives on campus, participate in activities, enjoy food and refreshments and cheer on our Titans! It is a fun opportunity to show families and loved one’s campus and what it means to be a Titan.”

Here’s a snapshot of the fun lined up for Homecoming 2022.

Be inspired at the Alumni Awards Celebration

The Alumni Awards Celebration is set for Friday, Oct. 21 at 5 p.m. The celebration is hosted by the UW Oshkosh Alumni Association at the Culver Family Welcome Center. Ten Titan alums will be honored this year, including five Outstanding Young Alumni Award honorees, four Distinguished Alumni Award honorees and one Alumni Outstanding Service Award honoree. There will a live streaming of the event. Watch it here.

Explore campus and reconnect at Family Day

Family Day drew 1,046 students and their guests to its festivities in 2021 and expects between 1,500 and 2,000 to attend this year. Family Day is an opportunity for UWO students and their families to reconnect and explore campus and the Oshkosh community. You can still register for Family Day here. Check in for Family Day is in Reeve Memorial Union at 10:15 a.m.; everyone will receive a free UWO gift.

Get your fill at Titan Tailgate

Alumni, families and their students, along with community members, are encouraged to start their day at Reeve Memorial Union for a ton of fun activities and delicious food. The Titan Tailgate goes from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A sampling of food will include Chancellor’s Arizona street tacos, walking tacos, chili, along with Vice Chancellor Grisham’s pumpkin bars. Various food from local restaurants, including Insomnia Cookies and Manderfield’s Bakery, will be provided. Fifth Ward Brewing Company will once again be on hand to serve Ale Titans beer.

Heads up: Algoma Boulevard is closed due to road work. Use the Elmwood entrance to enter Reeve Union. Parking is available in any campus lot.

March on!

After enjoying your morning at Titan Tailgate, head over to Titan Stadium for the Titan March. This new ritual will start at 12:15 p.m. at the Titan Athletics Band Center. Help drum up excitement for the game by cheering on the Titan Thunder Marching Band as it escorts the Titan football team onto J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. Free shuttle service is provided from Reeve Union.

Battle on the gridiron

The Homecoming and Family Day festivities continue with the annual Titan football game. This year UWO hosts UW-Stout at 1:30 p.m., with the royalty court announced on the field at halftime. The Titans, helmed by first-year head coach Peter Jennings, are currently ranked 16th in the nation. The Titan Thunder Marching Band also will perform at halftime. Any and all musicians from the UWO community are invited to take part in the band’s halftime show. Sign up by Oct. 16 here.
