American Overture by Joseph Jenkins will open the Fox Valley Concert Band’s Fall Concert.
Conducted by Marc Sackman, the concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21 in Perry Hall on the Fox Cities campus of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. The performance is free and open to the public.
The program includes a number of band classics and newer additions to the band repertoire.
The program will include one of the earliest of the classical repertoire from the 20th century, Gustav Holst’s Second Suite in F for Military Band.
One of newer pieces written for band will be Yiddish Dances by Adam Gorb. In memory of all that has been lost in the epidemic, the band will play David Holsinger’s On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss.
The band’s march for the evening will be Clifton Williams Strategic Air Command March.
