Demand is high for those with Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degrees. In the latest issue of CONtact magazine, we explain how the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s College of Nursing is helping to fill that need and turning out record numbers of DNP graduates.

“The need for DNP-prepared individuals in Wisconsin and throughout the nation is high,” said associate professor Bonnie Nickasch. “We have increased the number of faculty to help with the increased number of students.”

More and more nursing students are choosing the path toward earning a DNP, the highest level of education in specialized advanced nursing practice.  A record-breaking spring 2022 class had 57 graduates.

A number of new leaders began roles at the UWO CON, including new Dean Seon Yoon Chung, six new tenure track faculty and a new director of the Simulation and Skills Lab. We’ll provide an introduction in New Faces, New Roles.

The 2022 issue also includes stories on the training of a ‘worldwide workforce’ with assistant professor Maria Graf and a new nursing scholarship created to honor retiring faculty member Patti VanderLoop.
