Abby O’Neil, a University of Wisconsin Oshkosh custodian, has been named the recipient of the January 2023 STAR Award.

She was nominated by Cindy Schultz, an administrative assistant in journalism department:

“Abby is the best. We wound up having her temporarily assigned to Sage Hall third floor in February 2022. She hit the ground running. We had someone in place prior to her that was not doing their job. Within eight hours, we found a vast difference — everything already was starting to look so clean.

“Abby brings a positive attitude to her job. She is always incredibly helpful and is always communicating with the department if we have any specific needs. She always has a smile on her face and is so very easy to communicate with.

“This was an email that I sent to her supervisor recently: ‘I just want to say THANK YOU for allowing Ms. Abby O’Neil to manage the third floor of Sage Hall. She is the BEST!!! I love her energy, her desire to make and keep this place looking great and her attitude! Absolutely TOP NOTCH!!!’

“We just recently found out that we get to keep Abby on a more ‘permanent’ basis. I LOVE that we have been able to develop a relationship with our custodian. They truly what make this University work so smoothly! We would be lost without them!”
