The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and the Wisconsin Herd have teamed up for a campus art exhibition on display through the rest of Black History Month.

A collection of a dozen painted portraits of influential Black leaders by Detroit artist Patrick “Patcasso” Hunter make up the exhibit titled Be the Light. Inspiration on Purpose, showcased now through Feb. 28 in the Gail F. Steinhilber Gallery on the third floor of Reeve Union.

The portraits also have been sublimated onto jerseys for the Wisconsin Herd—the Oshkosh-based NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks—and will be worn Tuesday  for the Black History Month celebration game at Oshkosh Arena.

Hunter’s portraits include Bessie Coleman, Frederick Douglass, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Booker T. Washington and Harriet Tubman, among others.

The Steinhilber Gallery is open 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Wednesdays, 9-11 a.m. and 1:30-3 p.m. Thursdays and 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Fridays.
