The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh will welcome Jill Underly, Wisconsin’s state superintendent of public instruction, to the Oshkosh campus next month.

Underly was invited by Aspiring Educators, a UW Oshkosh student organization and a student branch of the Wisconsin Education Association Council. She will discuss the current climate in education in Wisconsin from 4 to 5 p.m. March 8 in Reeve Union, Room 307.

Underly was elected state superintendent in 2021 after more than two decades working in public education. She’s taught middle and high school social studies, been an elementary school principal, a school district superintendent and was assistant director at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, among other roles.

She earned bachelor’s degrees in history and sociology from Indiana University-Bloomington, a master’s degree in secondary education from Indiana University-Purdue University, a master’s degree in educational administration from UW-Madison and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy analysis from UW-Madison.
