University of Wisconsin Oshkosh students, faculty and staff are hard at work this week preparing for the second season of the Titan Thunder Marching Band.

Band camp began this week on the Oshkosh campus, with student musicians, twirlers, flag corps and more braving the late summer heat to prepare to give the Titan faithful a dazzling show come Sept. 2, when the UWO football team kicks off the 2023 season.

That home opener against Texas Lutheran University also will be Titan Youth Spirit Day for the Titan Thunder. Twirlers and dancers in grades K-12 are invited to participate in routines on the field during the halftime show, which will feature music from Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo and Dua Lipa. More information is available here. There is a $20 participation fee and registration is open through Aug. 25.

The Oct. 14 football game vs. UW-Eau Claire will also be High School Band Day hosted by the Titan Thunder. Full high school bands are invited to participate and have the opportunity to join the Titan Thunder Marching Band in the stands on the field during halftime. Those interested should contact their high school director to register for the event.

Oct. 28 is Homecoming, with the football team facing off against UW-Stevens Point. In a tradition that began last year, the Titan Thunder invites all UWO musicians—including alumni, faculty, staff and students—to participate in the halftime show. Those volunteer participants will be welcomed to the field to stand in formation with the band and play hits from the 1980s. More information is available here.
