The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh women’s volleyball team is off to a scorching start to the season. Titans fans and the greater community are invited to see them in action for free this week.

UW Oshkosh will host its first-ever Community Night on Tuesday, opening the Kolf Sports Center doors with free admission for the Titans’ match against UW-Stevens Point.

What’s new: After three wins over the weekend, the Titans are now 17-0. It’s the best start for the program since 2009, when the team won their first 29 matches en route to a 39-3 record and a third-place finish in the NCAA tournament.

The undefeated start follows a 2022 season where UWO won 19 straight regular season matches late in the year before claiming their first NCAA tournament win in 13 years.

Game details: UWO, last week ranked No. 3 in Division III, hosts No. 20 UW-Stevens Point at 7 p.m. at Kolf Sports Center. The Pointers will come to Oshkosh with a 12-2 record on the season and fresh off two weekend wins. It’s the second conference match of the season for the Titans, who swept No. 7 UW-Whitewater on the Warhawks’ home court last week.

Attendance record: The Community Night promotion is an attempt at breaking the NCAA Division III attendance record for regular season women’s volleyball. The current mark of 3,051 was set when Hope College hosted rival Calvin University in 2013.

Kolf is the largest home venue for a women’s volleyball team in Division III with a capacity of 5,600.

Inside insight: “We have been off to a great start this season, but we honestly try not to think about our success too much,” said junior libero Abby Fregien. “We are always saying as a team, ‘What’s next?’ Even after some great wins we’ve had, we don’t focus too much on the celebration after and we are hungry for the next game. This mindset helps us to stay present and not put the extra pressure on ourselves for future games.”
