The premise of the Nearly Naked Mile is for University of Wisconsin Oshkosh students to dress in layers and then shed their extra clothing as they participate in a run/walk through campus.
The clothing shed along the way was donated to Camp Wawbeek, Wisconsin Dells. The camp is run by the Easter Seals organization for cogitative and physically disabled high school children.
The annual run also helps raise awareness of the Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAA) organization.
