University of Wisconsin Oshkosh alumna Joye Moon ’84, a nationally recognized watercolor artist, is leading a two-week adventure in Portugal, including time for exploring, painting and tasting authentic Portuguese food and wine.

This is the 16th international tour arranged by Moon and her husband, Dave. Past destinations have included the Bahamas, Europe, Costa Rico and Mexico.

“Most trips include tours of famous wineries with wine tasting and wonderful, catered lunches in the beautiful wine and champagne caves,” she said. “We have learned about truffle farming in France from a world-famous truffle grower. Our trips have included tours of watercolor paint factories and an ancient mill that still makes paper with a water mill.”

Trip participants generally include 22 to 38 participants, with roughly an equal number of painters and non-painters.

“This next trip will be an overview of Portugal with free time built in to paint or explore on your own,” Moon said. “We will have our own bilingual tour guide and our own private tour bus.”
