This day in UW Oshkosh history – Jan. 16, 1959: The first-ever “Ice Frolic Festival Week” – later to be called the Winter Festival – wraps up a three-day celebration. The highlights include an ice sculpture contest and the Ice Frolic Festival Mixer following the UW Oshkosh-UW-Milwaukee basketball game. The Alethean Society takes first prize in the ice sculpture contest with a replication of Cinderella’s slipper. (Courtesy of UW Oshkosh Archives)
