The Alta Resources Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation has announced the top 10 contestants for our upcoming Business Model Contest, which will be held at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Feb. 26.

The selected student teams stood out among the almost 40 applicants for this year’s program, said Jordan Rhodes, director of the CEI at UW Oshkosh. The teams will compete for a shot at $10,000, $5,000, or $2,500 for their businesses. Each team be given 5 minutes to present their ideas to a panel of hand-selected judges from across the state in this very exciting, Shark Tank-like event.

The top 10 contestant teams include:

  • InstaInsure – A tablet and app that helps insurance companies increase sales in retail stores by providing video call sales reps at the point of purchase
  • Johnson Aerial Photography – A drone-based photography company that helps companies take aerial photos for marketing purposes
  • Metis Web Consulting – A digital marketing and web design company that helps small businesses with affordable Web design services
  • Sizzle – A nightlife app that helps users find the most exciting bars/clubs based on number of people at each location and other user generated data
  • ReSkinz – An app gaming company that reinvents popular gaming apps by using their source code and changing graphics, sounds and themes
  • Health Connection – A Web application that helps physical therapists digitally assign rehabilitative exercises while increasing patient retention and engagement
  • KTB Disc Jockey Services – A mobile DJ solution that provides venues with a non-violent alternative to mainstream dance music
  • The Mobile Detailers – A mobile car wash and detailing company that cleans cars on-site for dealerships and corporations with employee discount packages
  • Textbook Mobile – A mobile textbook buy back service that purchases student textbooks in high traffic areas and then sells them using online marketplaces
  • Spring Waters – A website that offers online counseling, meditation, and healing services to its customers

The contest takes place Feb. 26 at UW Oshkosh’s College of Business from 6 until 8 p.m. in Sage Hall, room 1214.
