Watch the Installation Ceremony live!

The installation of Andrew J. Leavitt, 11th chancellor of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, is scheduled for Friday, Sept 18, 2015.

The community event will take place at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture Museum, 3000 Poberezny Road, Oshkosh, at 2 p.m. All are welcome.

The installation ceremony is derived from historic academic tradition and formally recognizes the change in leadership at the institution’s highest level. Leavitt’s installation will include a formal ceremony, which will include UW System President Ray Cross, state and local university officials, as well as regional dignitaries, and campus and greater community members. Leavitt will share his vision for the future of the region’s largest public university during the event. Celebratory activities are also planned for following the Friday ceremony.

Leavitt took his post as chancellor of UW Oshkosh last November. He is a teacher-scholar committed to student success with a forte in building relationships that advance the University and engage active alumni, donors and communities to make the case for the critical mission of UW Oshkosh.

Prior to his service at UW Oshkosh, Leavitt rose through the academic ranks to become a professor of chemistry. In his previous role, he served as a vice president for university advancement, successfully completing a $44 million capital campaign.

Leavitt is committed to leading an institution that provides students a well-rounded liberal education, something he believes is crucial to success. He is committed to an open and accountable administration team that values input through engaged leadership and shared governance.

Leavitt earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with minors in physics and math from the University of Arizona in Tuscon and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
