More than 300 participants, including campus, city and county law enforcement officers; firefighters; EMS personnel; hospital staff; volunteer “victim” actors; and other University of Wisconsin Oshkosh staff and administrators engage in a full-scale emergency response exercise Aug. 12 in and around Clow Social Science Center, 805 Algoma Blvd.

The joint exercise coordinated by the City of Oshkosh, the University and Winnebago County included a simulated active shooter event with a number of individuals being held hostage. The drill involved a high degree of realism and allowed first-response agencies and local jurisdictions to test their skills in real time and build a coordinated capacity for incident response and communications.
