The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh women’s soccer team will kick off its contribution to “Titans Take Down Cancer,” during the 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 16  match at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium against UW-Stout.

Earlier in the season, head coach Erin Coppernoll’s squad became involved with Nicole Koerth, a young girl with pre-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia. “Team Nicole,” as the UW Oshkosh women have dubbed themselves, will honor Koerth and all children who are fighting cancer at this contest.

Koerth will walk the game ball onto the field and serve as the squad’s honorary captain. She will be escorted in that walk by UW Oshkosh co-captains Caitlin Casey (senior, of Waukesha) and Brittany Walder (junior, of Waukesha).

Koerth is part of the Child Life Program at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. Child Life aims to minimize the negative aspects of the child’s treatment and the family’s experience during hospitalization.

The UW Oshkosh men’s and women’s soccer teams will be holding a toy drive at the front entrance of J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium, during all home matches through October.

Members of the UW Oshkosh men’s and women’s soccer teams will be collecting monetary donations during the first five minutes of intermission.

The UW Oshkosh women’s soccer team encourages all fans to wear pink or gold to the match on Saturday in support of two great causes, Titan pride and the fight against childhood cancer.
