Art faculty from the three campuses of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh will showcase their work in a first-of-its-kind exhibition this month at Allen Priebe Gallery.

The display will include ceramics, paintings, photography, prints, quilts, sculptures and graphic arts. Refreshments will be served at an opening reception 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13. The faculty exhibition runs through Oct. 21.

“Every two years the UW Oshkosh art department has an exhibition in the Allen Priebe Gallery featuring recent work,” said Leslie Walfish, gallery director and campus curator “This year, we get to welcome three new teachers into the show as we combined with UW-Fond du Lac and UW-Fox Valley.”

The gallery is open from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday; from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays; and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is free.

Walfish said viewing the exhibition is a great way to see work by all the faculty from the combined campuses of the University —in all disciplines taught in the art department.

“These faculty have exhibited nationally and internationally while inspiring students to be creative innovators,” she said. “Some of the work in the show investigates how everyday objects can transform through unexpected shifts in scale or through combining items in unexpected ways. Other pieces on display create conversations between high and low art.”

Walfish said visitors can expect to see historically inspired objects, graphic one-of-a-kind patterns, work that explores gender identities and so much more.

“Everything on display in this show helps us appreciate the immense talent represented in our hard-working faculty,” she added.

Faculty participants include: Craig Clifford, Karina Cutler-Lake, Cassie Edwards, Li-Hsuan Hsu, William Greider, Edwin Jager, Tish Kopish, Alex Orellana-Mizell, Gail Panske, Andrew Redington, Emmet Sandberg, Trina Smith, Wendi Turchan (UW-Fond du Lac), Judith Waller (UW-Fox Valley), Allison Welch and Frank Zetzman (UW-Fox Valley).

  • If you go: Allen Priebe Gallery is located at N102 on the first floor of the Arts and Communications building, across from the Music Hall. The gallery is named in memory of the late Allen Priebe, a former member of the UW Oshkosh art faculty and teacher at the Rose Swart Campus School.
