Jim and Ginny Gilmore

Jim and Ginny Gilmore will receive UW-Fond du Lac’s 2015 Spirit of Excellence Award. They will be recognized at the university’s annual fundraising dinner Corks & Forks on March 26.

The Gilmores are being honored for their long-time support of UW-Fond du Lac and the UW-Fond du Lac Foundation.

“They believe strongly in student success and have supported student scholarships for many years,” said Laurie Krasin, UW-Fond du Lac director of marketing and communications. “Through their leadership in the Sophia Foundation, Jim as a board member and Ginny as founder and chair, they support an important campus-community partnership in the area of servant leadership.”

Jim was a member of the UW-Fond du Lac Foundation Board of Directors for two terms, 2005-2011, and also took classes at UW-Fond du Lac.

Previous UW-Fond du Lac Spirit of Excellence Awards have been given to Allen Buechel; Judith Berger O’Brien; Harold “Danny” and Charmaine LaShay; and Bill Henken.

The Corks & Forks event featuring international cuisine and wine will be held 5-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, in the UW-Fond du Lac University Center Commons.

This is the largest fundraiser of the year supporting UW-Fond du Lac student scholarships and the UW-Fond du Lac Foundation. The evening features a four-course Caribbean-inspired meal beginning with international hors d’oeuvres prepared by Linstrom’s Catering. Major sponsors for the event are CD Smith Construction, Inc. and Michel’s Corporation.

Individual reservations are $75 per person. Tables of eight and sponsorships are available for Corks & Forks. Advance reservations and payment are needed by March 19. Additional information is online or call (920) 929-1111.

The UW-Fond du Lac Foundation was established in 1974 to support the campus and awarded more than $30,000 in scholarships to students for the 2014-15 academic year. It is directed by a 22-member volunteer board of directors.
