John K. Wright will receive UW-Fond du Lac’s 2018 Spirit of Excellence Award. He will be recognized at the university’s annual fundraising dinner, Corks & Forks, on March 22.

Wright is being honored for his long-time support of UW-Fond du Lac and the UW-Fond du Lac Foundation.

The Spirit of Excellence Award honors individuals who have made an exceptional commitment of support to UW-Fond du Lac and the UW-Fond du Lac Foundation, making it an excellent learning institution. “John Wright embodies the spirit of excellence by the example he has set through his support of the UW-Fond du Lac Foundation,” said Tom Perry, UW-Fond du Lac Foundation executive director. “In 1999 under his leadership as the first executive director of the UW-Fond du Lac Foundation, the framework of the Foundation was strengthened and the friends of the Foundation increased substantially. He continues to support the Foundation through volunteer work and the John K. & Sandra J. Wright Scholarship endowment.”

Previous UW-Fond du Lac Spirit of Excellence Awards have been given to Rick Parks, John Ahern, Jim and Ginny Gilmore; Allen Buechel; Judith Berger O’Brien; Harold “Danny” and Charmaine LaShay; and Bill Henken.

Corks & Forks is the largest fundraiser of the year supporting the UW-Fond du Lac Foundation, which awarded more than $45,000 in scholarships to students for the 2017-18 academic year. The evening features live music and a four-course meal featuring New Orleans cuisine beginning with hors d’oeuvres prepared by Linstrom’s Catering. Society Insurance is the Crystal Sponsor for the event. Gold sponsors are Agnesian HealthCare; C.D. Smith Construction, Inc.; and J.F. Ahern Co. The media sponsor is USA Today Network Wisconsin.
