Kathryn Johnston has been appointed the new library director at UW-Fond du Lac. She began her position at the university on Jan. 2.

Johnston was most recently director of learning resources at Carl Shepard Library at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Ill. She also has served as an instructional services librarian at Purdue University Calumet in Hammond, Ind., and at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and biology at Earlham College, and her Master of Science in information and library science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Kathryn Johnston is married to J. Brian Conran, OD, and they have an eight year old daughter.

The UW-Fond du Lac Library has approximately 40,000 volumes in its collection. UW-Fond du Lac students may search extensive online databases as well as being able to access books, journals, films, and other library materials from any of the other UW System libraries through Universal Borrowing. The library is open to the public and offers limited borrowing privileges to Wisconsin citizens.

UW-Fond du Lac offers an Associate of Arts and Science Degree and prepares students of all ages and backgrounds for baccalaureate and professional programs. UW-Fond du Lac is one of 13 campuses of the UW Colleges and is part of the University of Wisconsin System.
