Madrigal Dinner

UW-Fond du Lac’s Music Department will present a winter madrigal production “The Midwinter’s Dream Knight” on Saturday, Dec. 5, in the University Center Commons, 400 University Drive.

Reservations can be made with a credit card by calling (920) 929-1111 or with a check by mailing the reservation form.

The dinner and the show are $35 per person and advance reservations are needed by Tuesday, Dec. 1. Tables of eight are available. Walk-ins cannot be accommodated for this event.

The evening begins with a gathering time from 6-6:30 p.m. featuring a brass quintet, handbell music, tumblers, percussionists and singers. The four-course dinner and show begin at 6:30 p.m. with a cast in full Renaissance costumes.

UW-Fond du Lac students have been rehearsing since early fall for this production which is directed by Cara Davis, UW-Fond du Lac music lecturer. The evening will also include the UW-Fond du Lac Chorus performing several Renaissance musical numbers and the UW-Fond du Lac Falcon Ringers handbell ensemble.

The role of the Jester will be played by Seth Baumgart. Cast members include Kasey Burg, King; MaKenzie Bauman, Ashes-Zelda; Carol Madsen, pararhythmer; Lauren Freund, pararhythmer; Will Malames, Knight Crawler; and Alex Chanto, Jack.

“The dedication of this cast and how well they worked together has been amazing,” said Davis. “They have memorized a lot of lines, rehearsed parts endlessly and even developed English accents to give this show a true Renaissance feeling. It’s been a delight to see this all come together and the show promises to be a fun and magical evening.”

The menu includes a festive Renaissance-inspired feast of warm cream of wild mushroom soup, stuffed chicken breast with water chestnut and sage stuffing, sweet potato soufflé and warm chocolate bread pudding with a whiskey drizzle. Renaissance dress for those attending is appropriate, but not required.
