College is the perfect time to experience new things. As a student, you will discover your personal interests and learn what you truly enjoy doing. It’s easy to let this time in your life fly by, so don’t miss out on all of the fun things you can do. Use your time at UW-Fox Valley to knock these five items off your college bucket list.

1. Stargaze at the Barlow Planetarium

Looking for something new to do right on campus? Check out the Barlow Planetarium. It is the second largest planetarium in Wisconsin with a 48-foot diameter projection dome and seating for 98 people. Check out the variety of shows offered throughout the week. Be amazed by the night sky!

2. Enjoy the outdoors at Plamann Park

Looking for some outdoor fun as the weather gets nice? Make a trip to Plamann Park. They have trails for hiking, a disc golf course and many other recreational activities to enjoy. They also have a children’s farm that hosts cows, pigs, goats, sheep and rabbits. When the days get hot, visit the beach on Plamann Lake. Grab your friends for a study break not far from campus!

3. Hike the Heckrodt Wetland Reserve

It’s time to get in touch with nature at Heckrodt Wetland Reserve. This 76-acre urban nature reserve has a variety of habitats including upland forest, open field, forested wetland, prairie, cattail marsh and open water. You can also expect to see a lot of wildlife from waterfowl to crayfish and turtles. Come explore this nature reserve within a city.

4. Peruse the Menasha Farm Fresh Market

At the Menasha Farm Fresh Market, you’ll find fresh produce close to home. Every Thursday, from 2 p.m.-7 p.m., in the warmer months, Downtown Menasha hosts this farmers’ market. Depending on the time of year, you can find apples, broccoli, peppers, tomatoes and other delicious produce. Come with an empty stomach!

5. Catch Your Limit at Lake Winnebago

Come visit Wisconsin’s largest inland lake when the weather is nice. Lake Winnebago is a great fishing spot in the area. Watch one of their many fishing tournaments or catch some yourself. No worries if fishing isn’t your favorite pastime. Boating and water skiing are just a couple of ways you can enjoy the lake. There are also various concerts offered along the shoreline. Take advantage of the lake life.

These five activities are a great start for any UW-Fox Valley student interested in making the most of their time in college.
