The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh basketball programs continue to rewrite history.

Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams earned a spot in the Sweet 16 with two wins each this past weekend in the opening rounds of their respective NCAA Division III Championships.

It’s the fourth time in school history the Titan men’s basketball program has reached the Sweet 16 round and the second year in a row. The Titan women’s basketball team reached its eighth Sweet 16 and third in the past six seasons by winning the Oshkosh Regional title.

This is the first time in school history that the men’s and women’s basketball teams have reached the Sweet 16 in the same season.

UW Oshkosh is one of only four universities left to have both of their basketball programs still alive in the championship. Along with UWO, Amherst College, Christopher Newport University and the University of St. Thomas have both their men’s and women’s basketball programs playing in the Sweet 16.

There is more basketball in the future for the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh men’s and women’s basketball teams as both Titan programs earned a berth into their respective 2019 NCAA Division III Championship.

UW Oshkosh is just one of 16 universities to have both its men’s and women’s basketball teams secure a spot in the postseason tournament.

The men’s basketball program earned one of the at-large bids into the 64-team tournament after winning the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship outright for the first time since 1977-1978 and posting an impressive 23-3 overall record in the regular season.

The 2018 national runner-up Titans are making their fourth-straight and ninth overall NCAA postseason appearance. They head west for their opening game, playing Lake Forest College on Friday, March 1 in Collegeville, Minn. Game time is still to be determined.

After missing out on a bid to the tournament a season ago, the women’s basketball team left no doubt this year, earning the automatic bid by virtue of winning the WIAC Championship on Sunday.

The Titans are hosting the opening two rounds of the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball  Championship for the second time in three years and fourth since 2014. They begin their 15th appearance in the postseason hosting Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Friday, March 1 in Kolf Sports Center. The game is set to tip at 7 p.m.

Ticket prices for the women’s basketball game are $9 for adults, $7 for senior citizens and $5 for students (3-18) or with a valid college ID. Two and under are free.

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh basketball programs are rewriting history.

The Titan men’s team—currently ranked third in the nation—secured the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) regular season title Saturday. The title is their first since the 1977-1978 season and the 13th overall.

They also put together a school record, 21-game winning streak this season—besting the previous mark of 13-straight.

On the women’s side, the 15th-ranked Titans grabbed their league-high 13th WIAC regular season title with a 67-23 victory over UW-Eau Claire Saturday night. It’s also their second title in three years.

Both teams capturing their respective WIAC regular season titles also is historic. It is the first time that both UW Oshkosh teams have won the title in the same season.

With both teams winning their respective WIAC regular season title outright, they secured the top seed in the WIAC Championship, making it the first time both Titan teams were the top seed in the same year.
