Basketball fans know there would be no “hoops” without the nets. But at the NCAA Division III Sectional Championship game between the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh men’s basketball team and Guilford College, the nets got more attention than usual.

First, the game was delayed near the end of the first half when a Titan player inadvertently unhooked the net while attempting to pull down an offensive rebound. The game was delayed for about 15 minutes as a number of officials and administrators worked to remedy the problem.

Per tradition, the Titans took turns cutting off pieces of the net after winning the sectional championship, 82-79.

In appreciation of all the support from Titan nation, players shared pieces of the nets with some of their most loyal fans.

The photo gallery below captures all of the excitement that surrounded the nets.
