University of Wisconsin Oshkosh professor emeritus Gene L. LaBerge passed away on March 9, 2019.

LaBerge was among the founding members of the Department of Geology and taught at UW Oshkosh from 1965 to 1998. He was an internationally respected expert on Precambrian geology and author of the book Geology of the Lake Superior Region.

UW Oshkosh recognized his outstanding contributions as a teacher and scholar by selecting him to receive its two most prestigious awards, the Distinguished Teaching Award and the Rosebush Professorship.
