The Comedy of Errors, William Shakespeare’s “slapstick farce of his youth,” will be performed Nov. 21-24 at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Fredric March Theatre. With a cast of almost 20 students, this comedy is sure to shine.
The Comedy of Errors offers over the top pandemonium as a set of identical twins unknown to each other find themselves in the same city after a lifetime spent apart. But wait, there are two sets of identical twins. Watch as lively and laughable complications of mistaken identify unfold every which way the twins turn.
This is a fanciful and crowd-pleasing play for those both new to Shakespeare’s plays and those who consider themselves old pals.
The play, directed by UWO theatre department chair Jane Purse-Wiedenhoeft, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21-23 and at 2 p.m. on Nov. 24. A special matinee performance for Wisconsin high school students their teachers and chaperones and hosted by the theatre department in partnership with the UWO Admissions Office will take place at 10 a.m. on Nov. 22.
