Twenty-three University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Master of Business Administration (MBA) students recently finished in the top 2 percentile on the national Educational Testing Services (ETS) fall business exam.
The ETS Major Field Test for the MBA consists of 124 multiple-choice questions that require knowledge of specific information drawn from marketing, management, finance and managerial accounting and strategic integration.
Dale Feinauer, assistant dean of graduate programs for the College of Business, is proud of the dedicated faculty who place a priority on student development by providing a high-quality MBA education. The MBA program consistently has ranked in the top 2% in the last five years.
“Our MBA students outperformed 98% of all others from 103 institutions who took the exam nationwide, solidifying the fact that students who graduate from UW Oshkosh are motivated, experienced and of high caliber,” Feinauer said.
College of Business Dean Barbara Rau said the measuring student’s competency is a key component of maintaining their Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation.
“AACSB is the most prestigious accreditation a university can achieve for business education. The ETS is one of the only ways to demonstrate the learning outcomes of our students and how well they have mastered business knowledge while in their MBA program relative to students from around the world,” Rau said.
Rau added that requiring competency in all business functions is another factor in the MBA students’ success on the test.
“Not all business schools are created equal. Other programs might allow you to graduate without experience in human resources, management information systems, supply chain management, etc. Our students leave with a wide comprehension of all content areas–not all schools share this feature in their curriculum,”
AACSB Accreditation, the hallmark of excellence in business education, has been earned by less than 6% of the world’s business schools. The College of Business at UW Oshkosh is the only business program in northeastern Wisconsin that offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees accredited by the AACSB International.
