The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, Fox Cities campus recently presented awards recognizing outstanding contributions by University staff and instructional academic staff. The Marilee White and Larry D. White awards have been given annually at the campus since 2000. Marilee White was a former lecturer in English, and Larry White formerly was a professor of political science.
Winners of the Larry D. White Award for University staff:
- Jenean Hodge, campus administrative specialist, is recognized for her strong knowledge of the campus and her generosity beyond her normal job responsibilities. The nomination noted she “always has everything under control, bringing order to the chaos.”
- Aaron Warden, custodian, is recognized for his leadership of the second-shift custodial team. The nomination noted his willingness to go above and beyond to respond to specific needs on campus, especially in the Fox Cities campus library.
Winners of the Marilee White Award for instructional academic staff:
- Paula Lovell, senior lecturer of communication and theater arts, is recognized for her dedication to moving her spring semester classes into an online format that engages students. Her creation of discussion boards to recreate the classroom experience and encouraging students to work together and help each other was noted in the nomination.
- Christina Marty, tutoring services director and senior lecturer of English, is recognized for her effective leadership of tutoring services on the Fox Cities campus. The nomination noted she helped create a writing pad citation assignment with the goal of helping students increase their understanding of citation practices in research.
