Every year, alumni from various classes come back to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh campus not only to reminisce but to compete in the Titan alumni basketball games. This year’s games are being held during Community Day on Jan. 22.

In addition to the alumni basketball games, visiting alumni will be honored during halftime of the Titan men’s and women’s basketball games against UW-Stevens Point. UW Oshkosh Athletic Director Darryl Sims, Alumni Director Christine Gantner and Alumni Board President Steve Buss will be presenting a small gift to each returning alumni as their name is called.

“The attendees, athletic department and other alumni like to show them support for their dedication to UW Oshkosh and the basketball teams,” said Phil Kosik, the men’s basketball alumni event organizer.

Former Titans expected to compete in the women’s alumni game include Jodi Anderson, Melissa Jennerjohn, Whitney Tyriver, Stephanie Warnke and more. Also participating in the women’s game is Terri Schumacher, UW Oshkosh alumna and head coach for the women’s team.

The men’s alumni game, scheduled to take place after the Titan women take on the UWSP Pointers, will include Jim Capelle, Ryan Johnson, DJ Marsh, Matt Miller and more. Following the alumni basketball game, they will have time to catch up with former teammates and coaches at a reception.

“We have a bunch of alumni coming just for the social,” Kosik said. “It’s really nice to see the guys and what they’re doing now in their professional careers as well as their personal lives. A lot of them do try to stay in touch and wish the current team luck in the future.”
