Ten successful University of Wisconsin Oshkosh graduates have been chosen to receive top honors for 2020 by the Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Distinguished Alumni Awards for those active in their professional fields and widely recognized for their career accomplishments and Outstanding Young Alumni Awards for those who exhibit professional and civic accomplishments and future promise within 15 years of graduating will be presented on campus at the Alumni Awards Celebration in October.

Distinguished Alumni Award recipients include:

  • Charles Christburg, Jr. ’77, geography major, of Monument, Colorado, director of staff, strategy, policy and plans directorate of North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command;
  • Mary Novak-Jandrey ’74, nursing major, of Venice, Florida, national managing director of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.;
  • Patricia (Horejs) Purcell,’89, journalism major, of Neenah, owner and president of Writing by Design;
  • Sheria (Grice) Robinson-Lane ’03, nursing major, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, assistant professor at the University of Michigan School of Nursing; and
  • Wayne Wiegand ’68, history major, of Walnut Creek, California, F. Williams Summers Professor of Library and Information Studies Emeritus at Florida State University

Outstanding Young Alumni Award winners are:

  • Bethany Lerch ’09, German and international studies majors, of Oshkosh, behavior specialist, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder, children and adolescents, Rogers Behavioral Health;
  • Alicia Ly ’15, journalism major, of Appleton, paid media manager at Publicis Media;
  • Marian Rothkegel ’12, supply chain management and finance majors, of Neenah, global procurement and supply chain manager at Marchant Schmidt Inc.;
  • Christine (Barutha) Roehling ’06, human resources major, of Brookfield, human resources manager at Johnson Controls (Federal Systems); and
  • Tracy Wilichowski ’12, philosophy and history majors, of Washington, D.C., analyst for the education global practice, global knowledge and innovation unit at The World Bank Group
