Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers and UW System President Tommy Thompson visited the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Friday to applaud the efforts of several organizations in getting a COVID-19 vaccination center up and running on campus. The vaccination site in the Culver Family Welcome Center, which opened this week to the public, is a partnership between UW Oshkosh, Advocate Aurora Health of Oshkosh and Winnebago County Public Health Department.

Evers, Thompson, UWO Chancellor Andrew Leavitt and University partner representatives spoke of both the significance of the new vaccination site and the need for continued diligence by the public during the coronavirus pandemic. While at the Culver center, Evers also signed a bill to allow pharmacy technicians and students to administer vaccines under certain conditions—widening the pool of people able to get shots into arms.
