The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh hosts Homecoming Oct. 22-23, with events for students starting Oct. 17. The special weekend for alumni and students has added excitement this year as the University community celebrates the 100th anniversary of Homecoming.

The weekend includes the third annual Family Day, an opportunity for Titan students and their families to reconnect and explore campus.

“UWO Homecoming 2021 will be extra special after being virtual last year,” said Chris Gantner, alumni relations director. “To celebrate 100 years, there will be historical exhibits reflecting Homecoming celebrations throughout the decades and a special presentation by UWO archivist Joshua Ranger, featuring a look back at all the Homecoming fun.”

The bulk of Homecoming and Family Day is set for Saturday, Oct. 23. Alumni, families and their students, along with community members, are encouraged to start their day at Reeve Memorial Union for a variety of fun activities before heading to J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium to take in a Titan football game and a women’s soccer game.

The day kicks off  with Muds, Floats, Tailgates and Tiaras: 100 years of UW Oshkosh Homecomings, a historic presentation in the Reeve Union Theatre, Room 307,  led by Ranger at 10:30 a.m. The ever-popular and family-friendly Titan Tailgate Celebration follows from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The tailgate is located throughout Reeve Union and includes free food, games and entertainment.

John Steinhardt ’77, a musician who performs under the name Schizoid Johnny, will play at the Titan Underground during Titan Tailgate. Around Reeve Union there also will be a photo booth, caricature artist, the Humans of UW Oshkosh exhibition, a chance to get your picture taken with the recreated Tommy Titan mascot and games organized by UWO student organizations.

A sampling of delicious food will be available, including walking tacos, marching band snack mix, white chicken chili, vegetarian chili, Provost’s cheese and macaroni, Chancellor’s street tacos, Vice Chancellor Munin’s Sesquicentennial celebration cake, along with Culver’s Titan Crunch. Fifth Ward Brewing Company will be on hand to serve the SesquicentenniALE commemorative beer.

The Homecoming and Family Day festivities continue with the annual Titan football game. This year UWO hosts UW-Eau Claire at 1:30 p.m., with the royalty court announced on the field at halftime. The UWO women’s soccer team closes out the day hosting UW-La Crosse at 7 p.m.

“Gather your fellow Titan alumni and friends and join us for this year’s extra special Homecoming celebration,” Gantner said.
