Rosalie Slomski, Student Health Center office manager, has been named the recipient of the STAR Award for May 2009. Slomski was nominated by Diane Zanto, health center director. The nomination letter follows:

“Rosalie has worked very hard in directing the health center toward implementing the upcoming EHR (Electronic Medical Record) system. This system will put us in sync with the progress of mainstream medical clinics.

“She has been involved in all phases of the process since it began before last summer. I believe her hard work should be recognized, as this is an endeavor of no small proportion.

“Above and beyond the many responsibilities of being office manager, Rosalie has done the following on our Electronic Medical Record project:

  • Researched several EHR systems designed for University settings, including site visits within Wisconsin.
  • Coordinated various EHR companies to demonstrate their systems for staff and providers.
  • Worked closely with the director to choose the best fit for the health center.
  • Ordered and facilitates installation of hardware.
  • Installed the necessary programming on all computers.
  • Trained staff on use of the ERH program, along with training ancillary program usage regarding dictation, prescriptions and laboratory orders.
  • Troubleshot and much more.”

Winners of the STAR Award receive a framed certificate, a reserved parking space for one month and a gift from University Books & More. The award for exceptional performance is presented each month to a member of the classified staff who has worked at least six months at UW Oshkosh.
