An Evening with President Thompson
October 6, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
FreeMichael Ford, Department of Public Administration chair and director of the Whitburn Center for Governance and Policy Research, will host an enlightening on-stage conversation with Interim President Tommy Thompson, a Wisconsinite who earned distinction as the state’s longest-serving governor, a former U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary under President George W. Bush and, currently, leader of the UW system.
The audience will learn about President Thompson’s story and journey in public service. We will reflect on his time growing up in Wisconsin; his education, bridging college and professional experiences; his ascent in state politics and his unique perspective on leadership across the public service spectrum; insights on the Wisconsin Idea; serving during historic crises; building coalitions and partnerships in divisive times; and the future of public higher education.
This event is free and open to the entire community on a first-come, first-seated basis. No RSVPs are necessary.
Sponsored by the Office of the Chancellor, Department of Public Administration, and Whitburn Center for Governance and Policy Research.
