Black History Month: Color-Brave Community Read

The Sisters Are Alright: Changing the Broken Narrative of Black Women in America, by Tamara Winfrey-Harris is the featured book for the Color-Brave Community Read. Each session will have a local influential woman from the Oshkosh community as the featured reader who will share a brief and meaningful reflection from the month’s section of the book. The featured reader for the noon session is Amber Leinweber. Amber is a long-time resident of Oshkosh. She earned her bachelor’s in history and African American studies and master’s in educational leadership from UW Oshkosh. With a passion for social justice, Amber hopes to make a change in this community. The featured reader for the evening session is Bethany Meyer. Bethany is the director of choirs at Oshkosh West High School and has been teaching in the Oshkosh Area School District for seven years. Bethany received her bachelor of music degree from UW-Stevens Point and a masters in science and education from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. This event is sponsored by the Women’s Center and Fit Oshkosh.
