Food Evolution Movie Screening and Midwest Farming Discussion Panel
September 25, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Join the UW Oshkosh Sustainability Institute for Regional Transformations and area farmers as we screen the film Food Evolution and discuss farming and the food system in the Midwest.
The 2016 film is narrated by Neil deGrasse Tyson and addresses the development and use of GMO crops as well as public concerns about the technology. The film will be followed by a panel discussion/Q&A session about farming in the Midwest, including the use of GMOs, the food system, and other aspects of farming.
Our panel will consist of: Kim Bremmer, a motivational speaker and founder of Ag Inspirations;
Michelle Miller, known on social media as The Farm Babe, also a farmer in northeast Iowa;
Nancy Kavazanjian, director on the United Soybean Board and farms in Beaver Dam; Tracy Vinz, co-owns and operates Olden Organics, a certified organic produce farm near Ripon and regular retailer at the Oshkosh Farmers Market; and Stephen Kercher, chair of the history department at UWO and leads the Wisconsin Farms Oral History Project.
