Join Learning in Retirement for Three Arguments for Liberty, a presentation by assistant professor of philosophy Evan Williams. Even in this polarized time, one thing that people on all sides of the political spectrum agree about is that liberty is good and tyranny is bad. However, we do not all conceptualize it in the same way or value it for the same reasons. This talk will explore three classic–and distinct–arguments for liberty, by the political philosophers John Locke, John Stuart Mill, and John Rawls.
