Lunar Rocks and the Apollo Missions of 50 Years Ago
November 13, 6:00 pm–8:00 pmFree
The Apollo missions are famous for landing a human on the surface of the Moon, but they have also provided a wealth of information about planetary geology and the formation of the Earth. Doug Fowler, former UW Oshkosh Fox Cities campus physics and astronomy professor, will present the history of the Apollo program and what has been learned about lunar geology from the samples those missions brought back. Come learn about what makes up the dark patches of the Moon, the violent history the Moon has endured, and even the mysterious orange sands uncovered by the Apollo 17 mission. Free and open to the public.
