Mitigating the Cyber Threat to Wisconsin Businesses

October 11, 2016 @ 7:30 am - 10:00 am

The theft of business information by malicious insiders and hackers costs the U.S. hundreds of billion dollars a year. It also results in the loss of U.S. jobs and competitiveness. Byron Franz, Special Agent with the FBI, will highlight some of the biggest cyber threats to Wisconsin businesses and individuals and suggest some possible mitigation. He will highlight the important role of establishing public-private partnerships in securing U.S. trade secrets and personal information against these threats.
Byron is a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and has worked national security investigations for over 18 years. He is currently assigned to FBI Milwaukee’s Cyber Squad, where his job is to develop security partnerships between the FBI and private industry, academia, and state/local government agencies to better protect the United States against cyber and economic espionage threats.
