Native American Hip Hop Concert

April 19, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Free

Three amazing Native American hip-hop artists converge on the UW Oshkosh Campus Titan Underground for a powerful moving cultural experience. Frank Waln and Sicangu Lakota, an MTV Rebel music artist and winner of three Native American Music Awards, headlines with dancer Samsoche Sampson. Northern Minnesota’s Thomas X combines his unique hip-hop sounds with traditions of northern Minnesota’s Annishinabe people. UWO’s very own student Gary D brings his music to life, living on the Menominee Indian Reservation and finding his way at UWO. All three artists give a glimpse into the Native American experience through hip-hop. From life on the Rez to living in a world that thinks Native Americans are extinct and portrayed through images and stereotypes depicted by Hollywood and team mascots, you will witness for yourself their stories through Native American hip-hop.
