Sam schroth was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Wisconsin 2014 and now Ms. Wheelchair America 2015. She will be speaking about her story and her advocacy work. In Sam’s words, “I’m Samantha Schroth a 22 year-old sheep fanatic and lover of life with all teh challenges it brings on a daily basis. I recently graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in animal science and was enrolled to begin veterinary school in the fall of 2013. My life was what you would consider ‘normal’ until May 25 of 2013. On May 25 I was staning in the front yard of a friend’s cabin, a dead tree fell on me, striking me across the chest and knocking me to the ground. In that moment, all that I had ever known and planned for myself changed. I sustained a spinal chord injury in the thoratic 7 and 8 vertebrae and can no longer feel or move anything below my mid chest level… I’m learning new things each and every day about myself and my new life and this is me sharing those things. I want to educate otehrs about living life with a disability. I want to make people think about the world and people around them.”
