February 22, 9:00 am–12:00 pm$75
Prepare for licensure and professional advancement with our Social Work Exam Prep course. Three-hour workshops are available in Oshkosh and Appleton.
All sessions will be instructed by Matthew Mattila, ACSW, CISW, who has more than 15 years of experience with children and families in child welfare and family court services agencies; and more than 15 years of experience as a social work lecturer and trainer. His practice interests include child welfare, forensic social work and adult education. Mattila is committed to helping prepare the next generation of social workers to meet the challenges of effective practice.
The program will help participants understand the process of applying for both national and Wisconsin social work certification, the purpose, structure and content areas of the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) certification/licensure exam. You will be able to apply recognized test-taking strategies to enable you to successfully complete the level of ASWB exam you will be taking and recognize how to select the correct answer to several sample exam questions that will build your confidence for successful completion of the ASWB exam. Even if you plan to move out of state, you will benefit from this course.
The instructor will provide a detailed overview of the application process for social work certification/licensure and the ASWB exam. The program will cover test-taking strategies and include sample questions from all four levels of the exam that correspond to the four types of social work certification in Wisconsin (bachelor’s, master’s, advanced generalist and clinical).
The program cost is $75 for current UW students and $90 for non-students.
