Advancing Young Women in STEM Day
One of the UW System Women and Science program’s goals is to provide role models of women and minority STEM professionals, scholars, and educators. Therefore, the Advancing Young Women in STEM Day is an annual event hosted by the Women and Science program to provide direct access for high school students from across Wisconsin to STEM women faculty, STEM women in industry, and other STEM careers.
Students from grades 8-12 are invited to participate in a variety of forums that allow interaction with successful women in STEM. Students can ask questions including examples like what a particular STEM major requires, what courses should be taken prior to starting colleges, what opportunities should students take advantage of while in college, what is undergraduate research, etc.
Additionally, part of the event is focused on speaking with recruiters and other faculty in STEM from across UW System.
