Frequently Asked Questions

When did the CFWC open and what is its purpose?

Formerly known as the Alumni Welcome and Conference Center, the CFWC opened April 1, 2014 to serve as a welcoming “front door” for visitors to the UW Oshkosh campus and to provide a home away from home for the University’s more than 83,000 alumni.  In 2019, the building was renamed to the Culver Family Welcome Center.

Is the CFWC open to the community?

Yes. The CFWC is open to the public. Event and meeting rooms may be reserved for alumni, community and corporate events. Reservations are currently being accepted one year in advance of the requested event date.

What is the process for reserving a meeting space?

To make a reservation for a meeting or social event, please contact CFWC staff by calling (920) 424-3300 or sending an email to welcomecenter@uwosh.edu.

Is parking available on site?

Yes. Free parking for conference center guests is available in lot #6, adjacent to the Culver Family Welcome Center

Can I bring food to my event?

Guests are not allowed to carry food into CFWC for meetings or events. Full-service, professional catering is provided exclusively by our on-campus catering company. The only exception to this policy is for wedding cakes and other confectionaries.

I’d like to hire a musician for my event, does the University have a list of musicians I can contact?

Yes! UW Oshkosh has superb student musicians who can be hired to perform classical, jazz, rock and other musical styles. Check out the University’s Music Referral Service.

What types of meeting rooms/spaces does CFWC offer?

The CFWC offers more than 16,000 square feet of conference, meeting and banquet space to accommodate groups of five to 500 guests. We offer:

  • A ballroom that can hold 500 people, or split into three separate rooms
  • A beautiful Great Hall with a two-story fireplace and floor windows
  • Two board rooms
  • Four breakout rooms

Can I bring my own technology to use at an event?

Yes, you may bring in your own technology. Please let our event services staff know the equipment that you intend to bring at least 72 hours in advance, so that we can make sure the proper connections are in place.

Do you include technology support?

Our on-site staff will be pleased to help set up and connect technology such as laptops, projectors, screens and conference phones.

Can I drop off materials for my event prior to the event start time?

Absolutely. Event materials may be dropped off up to 48 hours prior to your event. Contact your event coordinator for details regarding delivery and storage options.
